The Parlotones, well-known prolific rock band, is set to perform at Sun Meropa next Friday evening as part of their ‘Here, There and Everywhere South African Tour’.
Raksha Gunpath, Public Relations and Promotions Manager at Sun Meropa, says that the event promises all the magic, energy and enigma for which The Parlotones are renowned. “Fans will get to see them perform evergreen hits from their 2005 debut album ‘Radiocontrolledrobot’, right through to their more recent songs,” Gunpath says.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the uber-popular Parlotones have included Polokwane on their nationwide tour. Undoubtedly one of the most popular and talented bands this country has ever seen, they are sure to knock fans off their feet as they take them on a spectacular journey of all their chart topping hits,” Gunpath adds.
According to Gunpath, The Parlotones have rocketed to success; winning several awards, achieving multi-platinum album-selling status, packing out venues for live concerts and enjoying loads of airplay on local radio. “It was their album, ‘Radiocontrolledrobot’ that really catapulted them to stardom. It won Best Rock Album at the 2006 South African Music Awards and the ballad, ‘Beautiful’, was used in an Irish Fujifilm television advert. This led to a European licence deal with Universal Music. The album achieved Gold Status in 2007. That same year, they released their third album, ‘A world next door to yours’, which went on to become South Africa’s biggest selling rock album of the decade,” Gunpath says.
The show starts at 18:00 and tickets are available from Computicket at R160.
