Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) unveiled its new logo to its stakeholders, partners and shareholders during their brand launch at Mookgophong last Thursday.
LTA has been using a logo much similar to the one used by Brand South Africa and other tourism agencies nationwide for the past two years.
LTB Board Chair person, Andrew Dipela is quoted to have said that, in 2015, the LTA Board hastened to comply with Brand South Africa and South African Tourism like other provinces. “Our tagline at the time was “The Preferred Eco-Tourism Destination” in line with the vision of the entity at the time. The board decided to get rid of the tagline as it was limiting us because the province offers more beyond eco-tourism,” a statement quoting Dipela read.
He also added that the journey was not pleasant as they had to get rid of what had been identified with the province over a number of years. “Since 2015 the old logo was replaced by the one used by Brand South Africa reading ‘Inspiring New Ways with the South African flag’. As we did that, we were oblivious of the repercussions we would face as a result of our compliance with Brand South Africa. We realised that this process was limiting us but more importantly also confusing our people by adopting the national identity domestically of doing so when we do international activations,” and added that the new logo should not only be owned by LTA but by all South Africans. “Brand positioning is critical to all our clients and we wanted a logo that will set us apart from other agencies and we believe this is the right logo for us,” Dipela said.
On Saturday the agency hosted the Tourism Golf Extravaganza, a social golf challenge that saw the participation of more than 100 golfing enthusiasts at a well-known golf course in the Mookgophong area. “The main aim of the event was to grow golf in the province and also create a platform for golfers to network,” LTA Spokesperson, Mike Tauatsoala said.
