35-year-old man murders his 14-year-old nephew in Giyani

The boy was physically assaulted by his uncle with an electric cable.

LIMPOPO – According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident took place at Mphagani village, outside Giyani.

The deceased, 14 -year old, Akani Shiviti, was visiting his uncle when this incident took place.

Shiviti was physically assaulted by his uncle with an electric cable and later found dead on his bed.

“He was accused of breaking into his uncle’s house and stealing R1000,” Ngoepe explained.

The arrested suspect will appear before the Giyani Magistrates Court on Thurday, 5 October, on a charge of murder

The Provincial Commissioner, LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned the murder in the strongest terms.

Ledwaba says child discipline cannot be done through the excessive use of force.

“This is totally uncalled for,” he concluded.
