625 suspects arrested during Limpopo SAPS operation

During the operation, stolen items with an estimated value of R3.5 million were recovered

LIMPOPO – The operation was led by the Provincial Commissioner, LT. General Nneke Ledwaba and comprised of various police units from all over the province which ran until this morning, 3 October.

During the operation, the Provincial Commissioner personally arrested a 40-year-old man in Polokwane, for possession of dagga.

The other 625 suspects, between the ages of 19 and 48-years-old, were arrested for offenses ranging from house robbery, armed robbery, house breaking and theft, rape, possession of dagga, suspected stolen cars and possession of suspected stolen properties.

The following recovered items were recovered:

– Ten stolen cars, of which three were confirmed stolen in the Elenskraal and Rakgoadi areas outside Groblesdal and the third one was stolen in Mpumalanga.

– Ten cell phones.

– Clothing.

– One rifle, silencer and one round of ammunition.

– Nine firearms, 112 rounds of ammunition and eight magazines.

– Eight, 5l containers of dagga

– Six bags of dagga.

– Two Vodacom tower batteries.

– Cosmetics.

– Two computers.

– 12 hose pipes.

– 210L of oil.

– 23 loco battries.

– Fake cash money

“The operation is still unfolding and it will now be supplemented by the festive season operation which will be hitting the streets soon,” said police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The arrested suspects have already began appearing before different Magistrates Courts, on various offenses.
