Getting by with a little ‘sole’

Experimenting with various things to see what kind of mind she has in terms of being creative, Rosemary Rosinah Morero discovered she could make shoes.

POLOKWANE – That was four years ago when she was studying in Johannesburg and since then the talented 29-year-old from Mokopane, Mahwelereng has turned her discovery into a lucrative business.

“It is important for people to find their talents and passions, which they should then pursue by all means necessary. The shoes I make are in high demand as they are not only practical but reasonably priced as well. I believe everyone should pursue their dreams, especially women as we are often seen as vulnerable and we receive assistance in the form of grants so we can take care of our families. I feel we need to stand up and do things for ourselves which is why I began making shoes. My business has grown so much that I now have someone helping me which means through my initiative I have managed to create an employment opportunity which will in turn benefit my community. My shoes are themed and I make shoes for people from several prominent organisations such as the ANC, EFF, DA and people from various companies. I have attended business and entrepreneurial classes with the Johannesburg Gambling Board to learn as much as I can about operating a successful business so I can grow my own in leaps and bounds.”

The self-taught shoe designer and business-driven young woman advises other women to not take their talents for granted and never let anyone tell them that they cannot achieve success as they can do whatever they put their minds to.
