Bringing Cape Town flair to Polokwane
An up-and-coming guy to keep an eye on is the sole owner of R.i.PLK Recordz, Justin 'Sylverstar' Sylvester
POLOKWANE – Justin is the sole owner of R.i.PLK Recordz, a brand ambassador for Waptrendz.com and is currently working on projects for various artists such as Mopedy, Sly Mo, Diesel Attraction, King Hero and Cutjolicious from Thobela FM.
Born in George in the Western Cape, the 31-year-old moved to Polokwane a few years ago with his family – his wife, Aisha, a teacher at a school in the city, and their one-year-old daughter, Yazmin-Lee.
Justin loves his family and music dearly and said when he’s not busy with music projects, spending time with his family is his first priority.
He studied sound engineering in Cape Town and when his wife received a job offer in Polokwane he decided to join her and bring some ‘Cape Town flavour’ to the music industry.
“I take inspiration from how music can have an effect on the way you feel through its beat, rhythm and the lyrics that capture your soul. Music is a beautiful art to me, I sometimes can’t even express it in words, but I let it speak for itself. I guess I express myself best through my music,” he said.
Among the reasons he loves the music industry is that it allows you to meet different people with a variety of music ‘vibes’. “It can be difficult at times, especially in the beginning when you don’t know anyone but if you are passionate about music and your career you just connect with people.”
