Alleged scamster arrested for selling dept jobs

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Malamulele outside Giyani, for theft by false pretenses

LIMPOPO – The South African Police Service is hereby calling upon the community to take heed against job-for-cash scams, which they say are sucking money from innocent residents throughout the province.

This follows the arrest of the suspect on Tuesday morning, through a tip off, during a special intelligence led joint operation.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says this suspect was allegedly defrauding people by promising to give them jobs in government departments at the cash amount of R5 000 per post.

Several CV’s and copies of identity documents belong to different people were confiscated during his arrest, he adds.

The suspect, from Bolobedu outside Tzaneen, will appear before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court soon on a series of charges of fraud and theft by false pretense, concludes Ngoepe.

Police investigations continue.

Anyone who might have been a victim of this scam is urged to contact Brigadier Maluleke at 082 565 7287, their nearest police station, the 24-hour crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line sms 32211.

Members of the community are once-more advised to be vigilant enough at all times and avoid being lured into this type of  scams because there is NO employment which requires upfront payment for the assumption of duty.
