Rasilavi murder accused remains in custody

The suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Portia Rasilavi (35) appeared before the Dzanani Magistrate Court today (Monday) and his case was postponed to allow for further police investigation.

LIMPOPO – The suspect faces a charge of murder and is set to reappear before the court on 27 October 2017 for a formal bail application.


LIMPOPO – According to Police Spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the suspect and boyfriend of the deceased disappeared shortly of the murder until Themba residents recognised him from an article in a national newspaper and alerted the police.

“The suspect was hiding out in Moeka Village, Temba north of Pretoria until the police officers from the Tshwane North Cluster received a tip-off about his whereabouts and swiftly arrested him on Thursday 14 September 2017.”

Rasilavi  was murdered in Mphephu outside Thohyandou in April this year. The motive of the murder is still under investigation, but domestic violence has not be ruled out.

Police investigations continue.
