Take My Hand South Africa (TMHSA) gets tech savvy with the youth

Take My Hand South Africa (TMHSA) is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that was established in January 2013 to improve the level of teaching and learning through electronic learning systems to empower young people.

POLOKWANE – Technology plays an important role in our lives and it is a huge contributor to the well-being of humankind.

Kearabiloe Ledwaba, Phillip Legodi, Kgabo Choekoe and the late Dikeledi Matlou, realised the importance of technology and decided to start an organisation that will help the youth of South Africa learn the importance of technology and electronic learning.

The organisation promotes access to digital learning content, empowers unemployed youth with computer skills, business start-up, marketing and presentation skills by actively involving them as volunteers in their ongoing projects.

TMHSA is also involved in various projects such as donating school socks, hosting spelling bee competitions, mentor a teen, sports tournaments, career expos and Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprise (SMMEs) seminars.

On 26 August, TMHSA hosted a Mentor A Teen Girl event in Mankweng at Hlahlaganya Drop-in Centre. “Through this event we celebrated the brave women of 1956. The purpose of the event was to motivate, teach, enrich, empower, mentor and instill confidence among the female youth,” said Kgabo. “We aim to host these kinds of events in all rural areas in Limpopo and this year we decided on Turfloop as a friend of ours recommended we reach out to the community of nearby Hlahlaganya.”

The main purpose of the event was to motivate and mentor young girls as TMHSA believes through events such as these they are able to inspire young people to think positively about their future and see the bright side of life They also want to motivate them to take on life’s challenges in a positive way and to use their gifts and talents.

Several beauty queens attended the event such as Mpho Malebati Face of Polokwane 2017, Boikano Sewele Miss Mankweng first princess and Lethabo Mabutla Miss Gorgeous first princess as Kgabo explained it is good to work with models as they play a big part in the community and they want to instill a positive mindset with the girls.

TMHSA’s next project is a sports tournament in December and Donate School Socks in January of which details are still to be finalised. Anyone who wants to donate to the project can buy white socks and contact them for more information by sending an e-mail to chokoekgabo@gmail.com or contacting them via their Facebook page at Take My Hand South Africa.
