Visit the Polokwane Game Reserve mahala this week

September is Tourism Month and the Polokwane Municipality has planned several activities for residents to celebrate with them.

POLOKWANE – One of these activities is the Mahala Week where South African residents can visit the Polokwane Game Reserve from 11 to 15 September free of charge.

Many people are not aware of the Polokwane Game Reserve located on their doorstep on the Silicon road a short distance outside the city. The game reserve has a rich variety with over 20 species mammals and over 300 bird species calling the lush bushveld, thornveld and grassveld of the reserve home.

There is a variety of hiking and cycling trails throughout the reserve as well as a large braai area, accommodation facilities and a hall for functions and weddings to name a few.

World Tourism Day is celebrated on 27 September and this year’s theme is Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development.

Entrance to the Polokwane Game reserve for a self game drive between 07:00 and 16:00 is free but other services are offered as well, at a nominal fee.

These are:

• Game drive between 09:00 and 14:00 for 10 people: R80 per person.

• Game drive between 09:00 and 14:00 for 20 people: R40 per person.

Be sure to bring your South African ID book with you if you want to make use of the Mahala Week and enjoy the beauty of nature and Limpopo tourism.
