Consumers in parts of the Central Business District (CBD) as well as some residential areas may experience water shortages today (Tuesday) due to a main line pipe burst and on Thursday and Friday due to the reconnection of the main water pipeline along Devenish Street.
Disree Manyane, Stakeholder Relations Officer of Polokwane Municipality, said in a media release that the water cut will be implemented on Thursday at 06:00 and that the reconnection should be completed by Friday midday or earlier.
“The shut-down will affect parts of the CBD, Nirvana, Rainbow Park, Ivy Dale and Ivy Park, Westenburg, Madiba Park and the extension areas. If challenges are experienced with the reconnection, the municipality will provide temporary relief through water tankers to the affected areas,” Manyane said.
Manyane also advised that the Olifantspoort plant is currently out of operation due to a pipeline burst that it will take about seven hours to complete the repairs and affect all supply areas.
“The municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period. Consumers in affected areas are advised to make arrangements for water in their homes during this period,” Manyane concluded.
