Young people should refrain from social ills and devote their time to seeking for information, knowledge and a stable life. This is the appeal made by Tshepo Mogano, President of the newly established South African Youth Business Chamber (SAYBC).
In an interview with Polokwane Observer Mogano stated that government entities needed to come up with plans to rescue young people from social ills. He argued that Government must create incubation and support programmes that will enable and prompt young people to channel their energy into positive lifestyle. “We are urging people who have advanced in life to adopt youth who are unemployed and loitering around and mentor them. It is important to have a mentor because a mentor is someone who gives one direction,” Mogano commented.
He said they will be embarking on motivational road shows from 28 September where they will be outlining some of their projects. “We are going to visit schools in Limpopo, teaching young people about financial literacy, speech therapy and business innovations. We will go to schools in Lebowakgomo, Venda and Polokwane. We hope to change one mind at a time and for young people who face difficulties to rise above their circumstances.”
An airline pilot by profession, he is currently Cape Town based but hails from Lebowakgomo and was schooled at SJ van der Merwe Secondary School.
