De Beers, Venetia Mine in partnership with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Psira) aims to simplify and expedite the Psira registration and renewal process for residents of Musina and surrounding areas.
Tarryn Genis, Senior Corporate Affairs Officer of De Beers, Venetia Mine, says in a media release that Psira registration services will be available for interested parties at the Musina Showgrounds on Monday and Tuesday next week.
According to Genis, Psira currently has in excess of 200 registered members in Musina who would otherwise be required to travel to Polokwane for registration renewals.
“Anyone who offers services within the security industry is required to be legitimately registered with Psira. All security businesses and security officers who are not part of any official military, security police or intelligence force in South Africa or elsewhere are therefore required by law to have a valid license,” Genis explained.
“In discussions with Psira regarding the renewal of the Venetia Mine registered security officials, we recognised an opportunity for communities and local stakeholders to also benefit from a local Psira roadshow. We are grateful to Psira for this collaboration and would like to encourage fellow security officials in our communities to participate,” Venetia Mine Security Coordinator, Greg Miller said.
