Dept of Health describes illegal strike at Lebowakgomo Hospital as “disturbing”

The Department also says it is concerned with the overall decline in the performance of the Lebowakgomo Hospital.

LIMPOPO – In a statement released by the department, it says a group of nurses, who claim to be DENOSA members, had previously raised concern about the ability of a qualified official appointed to act as a Nursing Manager.

The department then designated two senior officials to act as both the Chief Executive Officer and Nursing Manager, respectively.

“To our dismay, the said officials were refused entry and forced out of the hospital,” the statement read.

The department says it is concerned with the overall decline in the performance of the Lebowakgomo Hospital, and as a consequence, the intervention was solely aimed at mitigating the decline in performance.

“DENOSA will therefore be answerable to any mishap which might happen, as a result of this negligence.”

The department concluded by saying it will continue to put patients first and anything or anyone who threatens the safety and health care of the patients shall be dealt with accordingly.
