[VIDEOs] Limpopo Eisteddfod Gala Evening a treat for all

the Limpopo Eisteddfod Gala Evening was hosted at Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos on Thursday, 31 August.

POLOKWANE – Have you ever thought why an Eisteddfod? The answer can be found in the words of American Poet and writer, John Updike when he said, ‘what art offers is space, a certain breathing room for the spirit.’ We believe this is what we offer the contestants, a place they can breath through their art and grow.”

These were the opening words of the organiser of the Limpopo Eisteddfod, Ans Becker. Becker spoke at the Limpopo Eisteddfod Gala Evening, on Thursday evening, 31 August, where contestants and their families had an opportunity to see other performances. The Limpopo Eisteddfod was established 18 months

The evening was opened with a percussion band performance by Akademie Reformia.

What followed were piano solos by Luna-Mary Leon, Agna Becker, Natalie Letsoalo and Renchia Grobbelaar. Liana Pragji and Marili Nel each did a ballet piece; Jannie Becker and his family played pieced on the recorder.

Kota Hattingh sang a solo song, while Jané de Witt and Tarien Saaiman performed a duet.

Different prose and poetry pieces where performed by Mia Meyer, Alessio Calokechi, Lené van As, Juan Krüger, Kayla Muller and CJ Smith. Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos’ junior choir, Akademie Reformia’s choir and Ensemble Esprit choir also performed.
