Len Meyer arrested for incitement

Len Meyer, former EFF councillor, has been arrested at the EFF headquarters on Thursday, 31 August on a charge of incitement to commit a crime.

POLOKWANE – Meyer told Review he was not held overnight in cells and he is scheduled to appear in court on 15 September. He was warned two weeks ago about his imminent arrest, he said.

He spoke to Review around six weeks ago and said he knew he would be arrested, but he wanted to help the people of Disteneng to obtain land, as they approached him for assistance. He was arrested following the illegal occupation of land on the Matlala road.

Meyer said he is still an EFF member in his heart, although he was asked to resign his membership.

He was arrested by officials attached to the Westenburg Police Station at around 13:00.
