Lim ANCWL respond to alleged gender based violence by EFF’s Jossey Buthane

Allegations have surfaced that EFF Limpopo’s Provincial Secretary, Jossey Buthane physically assaulted his female relatives over an inheritance dispute involving his grandparents’ house in Seshego.

POLOKWANE –  The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) in Limpopo have condemned the allegations and say Buthane must face the might of the law.

“Whilst we take into account the principles of innocent until proven guilty, the ANCWL Limpopo is resolute in supporting the victims of violence,” says ANCWL Limpopo Provincial Secretary, Lilliet Mamaregane.

Mamaregane says the ANCWL have called on the EFF Limpopo to join the ANCWL Limpopo in condemning the acts of violence against women.

“Their organisation is not immune to patriarchal attitudes and it is upon all political parties to defeat the scourge of patriarchy. The EFF, in particular it’s women supporters, and members must join our call for the legislation of 50/50% gender parity in all sectors and at all levels as a step towards dismantling patriarchy,” she said.

Mamaregane concluded by saying there is a need for unity on the fight against patriarchy and any forms of gender based violence.
