33-year-old fraudster remanded in custody

The suspect was arrested in Witbank by Modimolle detectives on Thursday, 24 August.

LIMPOPO – The arrested suspect appeared before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 25 August on charges of fraud.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspect was remanded in custody, with no bail .

“He will next appear on 1 September 2017 for bail application and for further police investigation to take place,” he concluded.


LIMPOPO – The suspect, who is in his 40’s, was arrested on Thursday, 24 August, after police were relentless in their search since it began in May, 2016.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspect had defrauded the complainant by advertising Buffalos for sale , to which the complainant paid him an amount of R20 000.

The complainant then opened a criminal case.

“At this stage, the suspect is connected to a number of cases in Midrand, Gauteng, Lephalale and Burgersfort,” Ngoepe said.

The suspect will appear before the Modimolle Magistrates Court soon and later, in other Magistrates Courts on similar charges.

The police have urged members of the public, who might have been defrauded like the complainant in this matter, to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Amanda Rossouw of the  Modimolle Detectives at 071 133 8524.
