Plant theft on the rise in Mokopane suburb

Residents of Kameeldoring Park are furious about recent plant thefts in the area

MOKOPANE – A resident of Kameeldoring Park in Emily Hob house Street, Ray Bossinger, is furious about recent plant theft.

Bossinger showed Bosveld where the thieves stole two of his cycads revoluta’s on the sidewalk where Thomas Tala, Bossinger’s gardner, planted it not long ago.

Bossinger said it is not the first time that the plant thieves strikes, “I love gardening, you can see it in my beautiful garden. “My wife and I together with Tala try to make and maintain the sidewalks and the island. We love to stay in a beautiful area. Then an evil minded person comes and steal my plants. I am tired of this. The culprit must hope I do not catch him in the act.”

Beyers Roos of Hooge street in Kameeldoring Park also had a problem with plant thieves in the past. “They stole two of my cycads Thouarsii and two rose bushes. I think someone is creating a paradise of a garden for themselves by stealing other people’s plants.”
