Three Zimbabwean nationals are expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court after their arrest at the Beit Bridge border post when found in possession of heroin worth just over R2 million on Tuesday evening.
Provincial Police Corporate Communications Head, Motlafela Mojapelo indicated that the heroin weighs 10,25 kg and was found hidden under a bed in the sleeping compartment of the truck the suspects were travelling in.
Police and South African Revenue Services were performing routine checks when the truck was directed to the cargo scanner where the batch was detected, according to Mojapelo. He added that the substance tested positive for heroin and the three suspects were arrested immediately.
They face charges relating to the possession of and dealing in drugs, Mojapleo added.
