Toddler (4) injured in N1 accident, ‘critical but stable’

Review spoke to mediclinic Limpopo regarding the girl's condition.

LIMPOPO – Patience experience manager of mediclinic Limpopo, Istha McMillan said Zelmari van Biljon’s arm and leg is broken and that she is in a critical but stable condition.

McMillan noted that there are still questions around whether the girl has any internal injuries but said that test results will tell.

According to the Zoutpansberger, Zelmari’s mother, Franzelle (33), sister, Marizelle (6) and grandparents Dawie and Elsa Sadie were all killed in the accident which occurred on Sunday afternoon.


LIMPOPO – The N1 has been opened in both directions following the fatal accident on the N1 road between Mokopane and Mookgopong this afternoon.

The accident claimed seven lives.


LIMPOPO – Seven people have been confirmed dead following a collision on the N1 road between Mokopane and Mookgopong.

According to Joshua Kwapa, Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, the accident occurred near Tobias when two sedans travelling in opposite directions collided head-on.

Both drivers and five passengers died on impact. Two passengers, one being a child of about four-years-old, sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Mokopane Hospital.

The cause of the accident is still unknown and will form part of a police investigation, however reckless and negligent driving has not been ruled out.

Emergency services are on the scene and the N1 has been closed in both directions. Road user are being diverted onto the R101.
