[WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES] Lions found with mouths & paws cut off in Vaalwater

Police are searching for suspects who poached and killed two lions.

LIMPOPO – Police in Vaalwater, outside Lephalale, have launched a manhunt for the suspects who poached and killed protected species.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says unknown suspects cut the fence and entered the Kwaagadans Lion enclosure, poisoned and killed two lions during the night and fled the scene.

“The mouth and paws of the two lions were removed and one lion’s abdomen was cut open but nothing was taken from it,” Ngoepe says.

No arrests have been made as yet as the suspect are still unknown.

Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of the suspects are urged to contact Colonel Alpheus Mokale at 082 565 6524; the nearest police station; the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line sms 32211.
