New appointments in the premier’s office

The provincial Executive Council (Exco) recently approved the appointment of several positions in the Premier's office.

POLOKWANE – These newly appointed positions include the Head of Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Tradition Affairs (Coghsta), Nnana Manamela as the Deputy Director General (DDG) Administration in the Office of the Premier, Stanley Mathabatha.

The former Coghsta HOD was suspended on 19 August 2013 by way of written notice as a precautionary measure pending possible disciplinary proceedings. The suspension was on full pay.

The disciplinary inquiry was to be held in October 2013 on six charges of misconduct.

Filing an application to challenge the premier’s decision to suspend her in September, she lost the case in September 2013, but was later reinstated and finished her contract period in the Office of the Premier after the bargaining chamber cleared her of all charges.

Esme Magwaza, also from Coghsta, was appointed as DDG Planning in the Office of the Premier.

She is a former General Manager of Coghsta and also headed the Disaster Management Centre of the province.
