Fun-filled day for Lebone Special School

The school ended Mandela Month in style when the staff of the school, Mokopane Community Radio and LesKgola EveTra Pioneers organised and hosted an event to brighten the day of the disabled children.

MOKOPANE –  Lebone Special School is situated in Maroteng village, Vaaltyn Location in Mokopane and caters for learners that are intellectually challenged.

The purpose of the event was to celebrate Mandela Month with the learners while cultural dancers entertained them by dancing and playing drums. One of the special learners, Itumeleng Khumalo, surprised the audience with a gospel song.

These children could not give away any more hugs than they already did.

A special cake was served with the face of Nelson Mandela on it to celebrate the day.

Education Department represented by Patrick Thansa said the following: “Parents should not take advantage of this school and want to enroll children who do not qualify for enrollment. This school is not for those learners who do not make it at schools but for the intellectually challenged.”

Francina Kekana, MAP Ledwaba (principal), Patrick Thansa (Mokopane Circuit Representative) and Lesiba Ramashala cutt the cake.

The principal of the school, MAP Ledwaba thanked everyone who attended the celebration and urges everyone to treat the learners or any other person who are intellectually challenged with dignity.

“These people are not sick, they were born with a particular specialty,” she concluded.
