LIMPOPO – A former school teacher, he joined the SABC in 1982. Munyangane started working for Phala Phala FM when it was still called Radio Venda.
Phalaphala FM Station Manager, Freddy Sadiki, hailed Munyangane as a newsreader who was passionate about his work and always did his best in ensuring that listeners received quality Tshivenda news.
He described him as a hard-working and dedicated newsreader, who was always committed in shaping the young generation for the future.
Sadiki remarked that although Munyangane started working in radio before the advent of technology, he did not have difficulty adapting to it. He added that technology poses a challenge to other news readers who are still new in the industry.
He said the retired Munyangane will be dearly missed and that young media practitioners should strive to follow in his footsteps. “Mr Munyangane carried out his duties with excellence and devoted his life to serving the organisation diligently as was expected of him. His paramount concern was to fulfil the mandate of the SABC of building an informed society and being a broadcast network for total citizen empowerment.
News Bulletin Editor, Murendeni Muhali, also praised Munyangane for being a hard worker and his commitment to his work. Muhali indicated that the contribution made by Munyangane will always be remembered.
He added that Munyangane is a living example of how media practitioners should carry themselves.
“Journalists and presenters should be proud of their profession and the work they do to restore the dignity of their profession,” she said.
A former colleague and current Manager of Makhado FM, Makonde Mbedzi, said Phalaphala FM was proud to have had someone like Munyangane.
“He was a distinguished newsreader and always exemplary,” he said.
He added that Munyangane had been an asset to the industry and had been instrumental in many of the station’s projects.
“He was a hard worker, dedicated to his work. He never complained when assigned a task. This is a great loss to the community and station,” he said.
He wished him good luck for his retirement.
