Cosatu is collecting sanitary items for underprivileged girls

Cosatu House Limpopo have taken initiative in helping to keep girls in school during 'that time of the month', by opening a sanitary towel collection box at their office in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – “Many girls, especially from rural areas, do unfortunately miss school during their time of the month as they cannot afford sanitary towels. We as Cosatu, have seen a need for us to help keep these young girls in school, so that they too can get the education they need to succeed in life,” said Toeki Kgabo, provincial gender coordinator of Cosatu House Limpopo.

This project will be an ongoing initiative and residents are urged to drop their donations into the box provided at the Polokwane office at 79a Biccard Street, confirmed Kgabo.

“This initiative is also aimed at fighting gender based violence directed at women and children, in order to make the society a much safer place for women to live freely and succeed in their personal ventures,” she concluded.
