Teacher in Seshego sentenced to life in prison for raping his daughter

The 52-year-old was sentenced in the Polokwane High Court after raping his daughter in 2014

POLOKWANE – The man began sexually molesting his biological daughter in 2007 when she was 10-years-old.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the man would molest his daughter when his wife was not at home and began raping her in 2012.

He would tell the girl that he was preparing her for the future and in 2013, she fell pregnant, however, the pregnancy was terminated.

“In 2014, she reported the abuse to the police and the suspect was arrested,” said Ngoepe.

The Saps Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Jim Ledwaba, has applauded the team of detectives in the Seshego Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit who were involved in the investigation of what he says is a heinous incident.

“We hope that this sentence will serve as a deterrent to all the rapists out there for them to stop targeting the most vulnerable members of our society. The long arm of the law will deal with them mercilessly and without compromise,” concluded General Ledwaba.
