10 armed suspects use explosive device in Cash-in-transit heist along R71

Police say an undisclosed amount of money was taken

LIMPOPO – A manhunt for the suspects has been launched after a cash in transit heist between 06:00 and 07:00 this morning.

Police spokesperson Lt Moatshe Ngoepe says the CIT vehicle was travelling along the R71 road between Tzaneen and Phalaborwa when it was approached by three cars.

“The suspects used explosive devices to gain access to the inside of the vehicle and robbed an undisclosed amount of money,” Ngoepe said.

The three vehicles, with unknown registration numbers, were identified as:

– A black BMW sedan.

– A C 200 Mercedes Benz.

– A white ML Mercedes Benz

Ngoepe says cases of armed robbery (cash-in transit) and attempted murder were opened and the police investigations continue.
