66-year-old women killed and lower lip cut off in Madalastand

Police say this is one of two incidents in which elderly women were killed

LIMPOPO – Police in Zaaiplaas say they have launched a manhunt for the suspects who attacked and killed the woman late on Sunday night, 30 July.

The deceased visited her mother-in-law and was later found lying along the street by passer-by’s, who immediately alerted the police.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says police reacted swiftly and on arrival at the crime scene, the body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries and her lower lip was cut off. 

“The motive behind this brutal killing is still unknown, however, investigations will continue,” he said.

The South African Police Service in Limpopo have condemned this killing and say it is not the only murder that took place on 30 July.

In Xikundu village, Saselamani, outside Malamulele, a 62-yer-old woman was shot dead, in her home, by unknown people.

At around 20:00, the deceased opened the door for her daughter, who was from work and during that process, she was shot from outside by unknown suspects.

“During this incident, the deceased’s husband (62) was injured and cash sobbed from the deceased’s daughter who escaped unhurt,” Ngoepe explained.

The motive behind this incident is also unknown.
