POLOKWANE – Esther is passionate about people with disabilities and therefore works at the Association for Persons with Disability.
“I cannot tolerate people being rude to disabled people. One of the reasons why I entered Mrs Polokwane, is because I want to teach the families of disabled people that their family members are important and there is a place for them in the community.”
Esther is involved with a care centre for disabled people in Moletje and she would like to raise money to get a bigger space and create a home for the disabled.
“I would also like to raise awareness for these people. At this home, we do different tasks like working in the garden and artwork. Even though the people are disabled, it does not mean they cannot do anything. Each one of them can do something and I would like to help them find their talent and mentor them.”
Esther, who loves to work with models, dreams of having her own agency where she can mentor and uplift the youth.
She says that she wants to develop and empower the youth and teach them about living a healthy lifestyle.
Currently, she mentors models, singers and dancers and creates and finds events to take them to every weekend to keep them busy.
Her husband, Ineeleng Disang, works away from home, but supports her in every task.
“His words when I told him I want to enter was ‘My wife, the drama queen’, but as he also like to give back to the community, he supports me. As a drama queen, I thought I was there, but I had to walk out of my comfort zone and grow as a finalist for Mrs. Polokwane.”
Esther’s biggest event, Miss and Mr Confidence takes place on Saturday, 5 August at Centenary House, Penina Park.
“It is a model show and while the judges are counting the points, I will have four residents of Centenary House on the catwalk. I just need two dresses for the women. I want to include them as the money will go towards the disable community.”
