Flowing Agbada robes and sexy shorts, paisley and floral prints, palazzo and knickerbocker variations, onesies and evening gowns, lace and shweshwe cloth, bags and beads entered into an amicable marriage for a whimsical display of talent marking a fashion show at Meropa Casino and Entertainment Centre on Saturday evening. The occasion formed part of Limpopo Fashion Week hosted by the Miss Limpopo Trust.
The audience was treated to collections from designers from local soil, those by Limpopo talent having spread their wings further afield as well as Johannesburg-based Paledi Segapo, whose black and white creations for men and women made for the grand final.
The show kicked off with a range from Mengouchi Haute Couture, followed by the collections of Suronah Bridal Boutique, Divas & Divos Fashion Trends, Amanda G Haute Couture, Antherline Couture, Pabalelo Mashabela and finally Palse dominating the catwalk.
Abri Boutique showcased barrel bags to courier slings respectively combined with zebra and leopard print or colourful dyed springbok hide.
Crafter project Village Beads wowed the audience with accessories that alternated between neck pieces, ties, cuffs and boleros.
Apart from Polokwane Observer as sole print media partner and Meropa Casino and Entertainment World as venue sponsor, further participation was characterised by House of Asante Spa, Energy FM, Woolworths, Laser Corporation and Naomi Mamakiri Fashion Design, the clothing and accessory brand of Mankweng-based Naomi Mamakiri Malatji who exhibited in the lobby at the venue.
Judging from the “Oh, wows” and the “Aahs” elicited by impressions on the catwalk, the fashionistas of this world afterwards had something to write home about on social media.
