No preferential treatment at Sekgoses Testing Station

After a burglary, the testing station says while testing is still ongoing, issuing of licences will only occur after repairs have been completed.

POLOKWANE – The Sekgosese Testing Station in the Molemole Municipality was the target of a robbery on Friday, 30 June and the municipality issued a statement which said licensing services will resume as soon as possible.

However, several people were upset to see the testing station operational on 18 July.

“We were surprised to see people being tested after we were told the station was closed for repairs.

If these tests were booked before the station was burgled why wasn’t it communicated to everyone affected.

A resident who wishes to remain anonymous said the testing station should have informed residents that they will continue to do licence tests for people who had already booked.”

“The municipality owes us an explanation.

If the testing station is closed, it must be closed for everyone.”

Molemole Municipality Spokesperson, Morongwa Pholoba, said: “It is true that the Sekgosese Testing Station was burgled and as a result it is closed.

With that said, this has been with exception to testing of licences that had already been booked. This is so that employees at the station are not completely underutilised.

Its unfortunate that residents chose to inform the newspaper of one incident and not about the other incidents where, despite the station being in a poor state, employees showed up for work, assisting clients, in the spirit of service delivery.

Furthermore, like any other traffic station, learners who come to test for licences do so in their driving school vehicles or their own if they’re not aligned to a driving school. The station will continue to help those that had pre-booked their driver’s licence testing as and when those dates come until the station is fully operational.
