Limpopo Beauty Modelling Academy hosted the national Miss Beauty South Africa 2017 Pageant at a local tea garden on Saturday where 40 models competed for the crown.
The pageant saw models from the city, Modimolle, Phalaborwa, Tzaneen, Mokopane and as far as Centurion competing in smart-casual dresses in five age categories.
The pageant combined with a Winter Warmer Drive that required the participants to raise blankets for distribution to several beneficiaries such as homeless persons and a drop-in centre.
In every category, five sashes were awarded namely to the winner, first and second princess, as well as Miss Fashionista and Miss Flamboyant. The top three winners each also received a gift pack, and a crown.
Local girls claimed all the caegories except in the 16 to 24 years category.
In the 4 to 6 age category, Phathu Tshivhula took the crown. Another local beauty, Mathapelo Kekana was the winner in the 7 to 9 age category and Palesa Masimene could not be beaten in the 10 to 12 years category.
Refilwe Malatji took the honours in the 13 to 15 years category while Centurion’s Mahlatse Masego was crowned the winner in the 16 to 24 years category. Casey-Lee Butler won Miss Philanthropy Overall for having raised the most blankets, a total of 67, of all the entrants.
Katryn Celliers, Owner of Limpopo Beauty Modelling Academy Boss expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the event. She said that over 400 blankets were collected. “It warms my heart to see young girls caring for others. By teaching the youth to care and give, we are improving community involvement tremendously for the years to come,” she said. The judges were Kabelo Maditse, House of Asante Spa Manager, Antoinette Barwise and Ronnel Homu, Miss Polokwane Observer 2016.

The winners in the 10 to 12 years category are Miss Flamboyant, Wilita Lee, Miss Philantrophy Mahlatse Mabotja, Second Princess Washu Hlabioa, Winner Palesa Masimene, First Princess, Kamogelo Makgato and Miss Fashionista Moshibudi Manyaka accompanied by Katryn Celliers.
