LIMPOPO – Makhado Local Municipality relaunched its new website recently at their offices in Louis Trichardt.
The new website was launched as the old one was unable to upload everything needed by the municipality, which resulted in many problems for people who tried to access it.
The new website boasts new features that allow people to submit service requests, get access to the municipality’s events calendar and gain access to municipality forms, reports and other relevant documents.
The Mayor of Makhado, Shonisani Sinyosi, said people will be able to access more information about the municipality through this website.
She added that tourists will also be able to acquaint themselves with the tourist attractions in the Makhado area.
“The idea was always to create a unique site that is not already on the market. The website has an online tender box that allows for digital submissions of tenders.
“There is nothing like this elsewhere. We have been able to generate an income through various streams on our website. We also facilitate e-procurement auctions which allow tender issuers to buy goods and services,” she explained.
She added the municipality has taken a giant leap forward in marketing itself.
“There are many events taking place in the Makhado Municipality and people will know about them through this website and other communication platforms,” she added.
The site, launched with the aim of providing a real-time platform for all information about the municipality including tender issuers and seekers to connect, enables an easy upload of tender invitations and also the submitting of tender bids. The user-friendly website can be accessed via computer or cell phone.
According to Cindi Mbatha, a representative of State Information Technology Agency (Sita), all municipalities should have their own websites for communication and marketing, with the help of Sita.
“Sita is connecting all local municipalities with websites,” said Mbatha.
She thanked the Makhado Municipality for their interest in connecting with the rest of the world.
