Local model Rosette Magapa from Makgane village in the Sekhukhune area is a finalist in the Miss Uniworld South Africa pageant of which the grand finale is set for September in Durban.
Magapa, a BSc Environmental and Water Sciences graduate from University of Western Cape, believes she has a very good chance to win the title.
“My motto in life is that nothing is impossible,” she stated and added that her experience of pageants along with her determination to win would stand her in good stead.
She started pageantry in 2014 and her first major competition was Miss Commonwealth South Africa.
“The Miss Commonwealth SA pageant was one of my first major pageants and the highlight of my career. I would have loved to win it but it was not meant to be. I finished in the top 5 and that was encouraging for me,” Magapa added.
Other modelling career highlights include being a finalist in the 2015 Miss Earth South Africa and the 2016 Miss Limpopo contests.
Besides her modelling career Magapa also runs a charity campaign in her home village. She collects clothing items and stationery which she donates to underprivileged children.
“I am also a volunteer at South African Blood Service. I take part in blood donation drives and would like to urge all qualifying donors, especially young people, to become blood donors and save lives.”
Miss Uniworld is open to unmarried women aged 18 to 28 and seeks dynamic entrants who can use the pageant as a platform to serve and uplift their community.
