One CIT suspect killed during shootout with SAPS outside Lebowakgomo

Seven of ten armed suspects involved in a cash-in-transit heist that occurred in the Apel area near Lebowakgomo on Tuesday have been arrested.

LIMPOPO -This follows a quick response by  task team members and the local police after 10 armed suspects robbed a cash-in transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money on Tuesday afternoon.

“According to information, the four of these suspects were immediately arrested after police cornered the ten suspects who had just committed the robbery. The other suspects fled in the direction of GaMasemola, the police gave chase where a shootout ensued at Apel Cross. One suspect was fatally wounded during the shootout and three more were arrested. The last three suspects managed to flee the scene,” reported Captain Mamphaswa Seabi.

Four vehicles, three firearms and money were recovered on the scene, confirmed Seabi.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba commended all members who were involved in the operation for their quick response in apprehending the suspects.
