Fifth firearm used in Lebowakgomo cash in transit heist, recovered

Police say the seven arrested suspects will appear in court on Thursday, 13 July.

LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson Captain Mamphaswa Seabi says the firearm was recovered this morning, 12 July, by passers-by who were fetching water under a bridge.

“The police were called and the said firearm was found on the ground. It is suspected it was thrown by the fleeing suspects,” he said.

Meanwhile, the seven suspects that were arrested yesterday, will appear in the Lebowakgomo magistrates court on Thursday, 13 July.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 52-years-old will face charges of armed robbery, possession of stolen motor vehicles and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

This after they robbed a G4S security vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money.

The following items were seized during the arrest:

– A Silver BMW, hijacked in Pretoria

– One LM5 Rifle

Seabi concluded by saying some of the suspects are from Mamelodi and others are the locals of gaMasemola.
