“At the moment no arrests have been made, however we believe that justice will prevail and the perpetrators will be brought to book, ” he said.
The Mopani elective conference was set to be held this weekend, but had to be postponed due to outstanding matters between the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC), Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and Regional Executive Committee ( REC) after 21 branches believed to back the Dlamini-Zuma camp in Giyani were disqualified to participate in the conference due to fraudulent membership.
According to a branch delegate who spoke on condition of anonymity, the ANC offices were bombed because some top officials wanted the documents containing information about the 21 branches that have been accused of fraudulent membership.
“The perpetrators bombed the offices because they thought they could gain access to those documents and destroy them so that the conference will be declared null and void. Fortunately, the security heard them and arrived at the scene before they could gain access,” said the delegate.
Recently, the ANC discovered proof of 2 000 fraudulent members in KwaZulu-Natal.
