Olifantspoort Plant shutdown: Polokwane taps to run dry, warns muni

Parts of Polokwane will possibly be without water due to repairs that need to be carried out along the Specon pipe line.

POLOKWANE -The Polokwane Municipality says it was just informed by Lepelle Northern Water that the Olifantspoort Plant will temporarily be out of operation due to a pipe burst along the Specon pipeline.

Immediate repairs on this line will take around 6 hours to complete.

“The water shutdown will also affect the lower lying areas of city that are currently receiving water from the Penina Park off take, as it can stop flowing at any time.”

The municipality is urging residents to use water sparingly during this time to avoid a ‘negative or adverse impact’ on the water levels.
