3 killed in two separate accidents outside Polokwane

Three people have lost their lives in two separate accidents since yesterday evening (Friday).

LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by  the Spokesperson of the Department of Transport Joshua Kwapa, two people were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck along the N1 South just outside Polokwane on Friday evening.

“The driver and a passenger were trapped in their vehicle and emergency services had to use special equipment to extract their bodies from the wreckage.”

In another accident the driver of a sedan died after a head-on collision with a truck along the R37 near the smelters outside Polokwane at around 04:30 this morning (Saturday), confirmed Kwapa.

“It is alleged the driver of the sedan lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with a truck. Both vehicles caught fire following the impact.”

In other parts of Limpopo two people died after two vehicles collided at a four-way stop in the Phalaborwa area. The accident happened at around 06:00 this morning (Saturday) along the R40 in Makhushane.  Three other people sustained minor injuries during this collision, concluded Kwapa.
