The Miss Limpopo Trust has received 3 ha of land at Nkhumishe village, Ga-Matlala from the Bakone Traditional Office last Thurday. The trust, represented by Miss Limpopo Teen, Lesego Matheba and Chairperson Matlakala Bopape, will build a new clinic here.
This after the trust saw the need for assistance of residents from Phofu, Ntlolane, Nkhumishe, Dibeng, Borapelo, Mpone, Makgobane and Semaneng villages where patients have to walk approximately 20 km in order to access health care services at Matlala Clinic.
According to Bopape they started negotiating for the land in April following a request from the community. “I was touched by the need for a second clinic in the area. It is my home town and many people have been using one cinic for many years. We met with the community and they agreed that we should build another clinic which can be easily accessed by anyone,” Bopape said.

Matheba, a matriculant at Hoërskool Noorderland said they are excited about the prospect of building a clinic. “We approached the Bakone Traditional Office about the provision of a clinic which would, once completed, be handed over to government to resource in terms of human capital and medication and they agreed,” Matheba said.
Senior Executive Member of the traditional authority Phillimon Matlala said the proposed clinic will ease the lives of the community and bring development to the area. “We appreciate the efforts of the Miss Limpopo Trust to uplift the community,” Matlala said.
Bopape said they are still waiting for a bill of quantities from Department of Public Works to determine the figure that will also include a borehole. “Subsequent to that we will be fundraising for construction and medical equipment in Polokwane on 9 August. We will also be auctioning various dresses from local designers and pop-up stores in aid of the project. Guests will be entertained by Village and Harmony choir from the United States of America.”
