Young minds change lives of children

Awareness of Pandemic Proportions (APP) is a Non-Profit Organisation dealing with helping create HIV/aids awareness for communities.

LIMPOPO – This organisation was established by friends, Jacob Lebelo (Chairperson) and Palesa Selota, and it uses fundraising initiatives to help those who already live with the infection, especially the young children around Mokopane and surrounding areas.

One of the initiatives they use to raise money is Miss Winter Mokopane. It is an annual pageant hosted by APP in an attempt to bring the community together and showcase young talent for models across Limpopo province. On Friday, APP and Miss Winter Mokopane Finalists went to Centre of Hope charity home in Mahwelereng, which looks after children living with mental disability, to help them clean the place and paint it for the children.

Miss Winter Mokopane takes place every year on the first Saturday of July and this year’s winners will hand out food parcels to the charity home of APP’s choice.

APP prides themselves in making a difference in the lives of their communities and one of the ways they do that is by helping to take a child to university by sourcing funds in the form of bursaries and scholarships for matriculants who come from underprivileged backgrounds.

The learners who will receive the bursaries will be picked from the local schools according to their final year results.
