New Volkswagen Amarok built with a purpose

Local attorney, Thomas Grobler is the city's first proud owner of the new Amarok, and says it's a drive like no other.

POLOKWANE – The all-new Volkswagen (VW) Amarok 3.0 V6 TDI was recently launched in South Africa and orders are streaming in.

Review spoke to Grobler who was clearly impressed with his luxurious bakkie purchase.

In terms of its exterior, the all-new VW Amarok features a revised bumper and grille design with a choice of alloy wheels.

The all-new VW Amarok features a revised bumper and grille design which makes it better suited for customisation. Another part of the exterior revision is the choice of new alloy wheels.

This is something Grobler took advantage of when he customised his spotlight choice. “The bumper offers enough space to make some special changes and specifications which is something I appreciate as I plan to use it for hunting,” he said.

Aside from the new exterior look, the interior is where the all-new Amarok really shines. The changes to the interior include a new dashboard design which incorporates a comprehensive touchscreen infotainment system.

The Amarok differs from most of its rivals by offering an SUV-like interior that is attractive to the eye and kitted out with a range of comfort features that you may not expect to find in a bakkie, such as height-adjustable seats for the driver and passenger among other creature comforts.

“You do not feel as if you are sitting in a bakkie and the comfortable seats make the Amarok the best choice for long trips, even if those trips happen to involve some off-road driving.”

The 3.0 V6 TDI is available in Highline, Highline Plus or Extreme trim with an eight-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive as standard. All three engine derivatives are equipped with an electronic differential lock (EDL).

Grobler said another feature he appreciates is that voices carry easily in the cab. He explained it often happens in a double cab bakkie that the driver’s voice cannot be heard clearly by passengers at the back, this however is not the case with the all-new VW Amarok.

The 3.0 V6 Amarok is the type of bakkie which can be transformed to meet your specific needs through its variety of customisation options.

The Amarok features a unique sound system which helps the driver’s voice to be heard at the back of the vehicle.

“I believe this bakkie is a good buy for anyone. The after sales service from the VW Polokwane dealership is outstanding and it will make you think twice before buying any brand other than a VW,” Grobler added.
