Man (19) sentenced for murder of UniLim student

The deceased was stabbed to death for a tablet.

POLOKWANE – Dimakatso Surprise Mathemane (19) was sentenced to 20 year’s imprisonment for murder and a further 10 years for armed robbery by the Sekgosese Regional Court.

The accused murdered Khomotso Mokgerere (22) and robbed him of his tablet on 13 February 2016. According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the police found the stolen tablet in the suspects possession five days later and he was arrested.

The deceased was a student at the University of Limpopo, Ngoepe added.

The Provincial Commissioner Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has commended the detectives for the job well done. “Residents can be rest assured dedicated detectives are ready to serve them with pride, dignity and professionalism at all times when supplied with valuable information regarding criminals activities in Limpopo,” Ledwaba concluded.
