192 suspects arrested by Lim SAPS during clean up operation

Police say they are taking a no nonsense approach to crime in the province.

LIMPOPO – A joint operation by various task teams in the province targeted crime infested areas and focused on contact, trio and property crime in various hotspots.

The following areas were focus points:

Lephalale, Hlogotlou, Groblesdal, Dennilton, Ritavi, Bolobedu, Watetval, Makhado, Lulekani, Maake, Thohoyandou, Seshego, Thabazimbi, Mankweng, Mokopane, Lebowakgomo, Modimolle, Burgersfort, Phalaborwa and Letsitele.

Police spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the 192 arrested suspects (aged between 19 and 52-years-old) were arrested for various offences ranging from house robbery, armed robbery, rape ,business robbery, common robbery to possession of dagga, unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The following items were confiscated:

– Seven illegal firearms, ammunition and magazines.

– Four stolen computers.

– Two cars.

– One rifle magazine with ammunition.

– R900 cash of money.

– Shoes.

– Bags and packets of dagga.

At Tshikota village in the Makhado Cluster, two suspects aged 26 and 37-years-old were arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods and the following items were confiscated:

– One plasma TV.

– One computer monitor.

– One dvd player.

The arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrate Courts soon and police investigations continue.

“Members of the community are still advised and encouraged to continue supporting the police with information about any incident of crime in their areas,” Ngoepe concluded.
