Guard in hospital after attempted CIT heist outside Tzaneen

The Police in Maake outside Tzaneen are looking for a group of armed suspects in connection with the attempted robbery of a cash-in-transit vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.

LIMPOPO – It is alleged the incident occurred along the Ofcolaco and Sekororo road after the  armed suspects, travelling in two vehicles, forced the CIT vehicle to pull off the road. “They shot at the vehicle and attempted to bomb the vehicle, however the explosives failed and they fled the scene empty handed,” Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

During this incident the security guards were robbed of four fire arms and one officer was shot and injured. He is still recuperating in the hospital, Ngoepe added.

It is alleged two BMW’s, one a silver grey and the other blue, with North West registration numbers was used.
