RAF to assist bereaved families of 9 killed in Limpopo crash

The Road Accident Fund (RAF) has sent its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of nine people who died in an accident on the R579

LIMPOPO – The Road Accident Fund (RAF) has sent its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of nine people who died in an accident on the R579 in Tooseng near Lebowakgomo in the Capricorn District of Limpopo Province last Tuesday.
While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, initial reports indicate a taxi collided head-on with a truck which allegedly overtook other vehicles recklessly while travelling in the opposite direction according to authorities. Nine people died on the scene, while all the injured were rushed to hospital.

RAF Pretoria Regional General Manager, Dineo Thabede, said: “We will do everything in our power to ease the emotional and financial burden for all family members affected by this tragic incident.”
Thabebe said her team have started engaging with the families, extending their condolences and advising them of RAF’s services as the consoling arm of government while also facilitating funeral arrangements.
Following the burials, consultations will continue with the bereaved families to originate claims for loss of support for any dependents and qualifying heads of damages for the injured as stipulated in the RAF Act.
