Human skull, burnt body and murdered gogo to be investigated – SAPS

Limpopo Police appeal to the community to help apprehend suspects involved in three separate incidents in the Thohoyandou, Vuwani and Mphephu areas respectively.

THOHOYANDOU –Police in Makuya outside Thohoyandou are still investigating an incident where what is believed to be a human skull was found near a tree on top of a mountain outside Vhuri Vhuri  (Mavhele) village on Sunday.

An elderly man chopping tree branches discovered the skull along with a skirt, T-shirt and shawl.

At this stage, the race, gender and identity of the deceased is not yet known, however police and forensic unit investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, police in the Vuwani area continue to search for the suspects involved in the murder of a man from Khumbe Village believed to be in his 30s. The deceased’s body, which was partially burnt, was found by women searching for wood in nearby bushes on Monday.

Preliminary investigations by the police reveal the deceased’s right heel and toes are missing and they have not ruled out ritual killing as motive, but the post mortem will reveal more.

Both the identity of the deceased and the cause of death are still unknown.

On the same day in the Mphephu policing area, police are still searching for a suspect for the murder of an 83-year-old woman in Matanda village in Rabali Zone 3. The suspect also made an attempt on the lives of deceased’s granddaughters, aged seven and 13.

It is alleged the deceased’s niece left her grandmother home with the two children and went to a funeral. When she returned, she found the door locked. Upon inspection, she discovered the children, and her grandmother’s body which had sustained multiple stab wounds. The children also sustained injuries but were found alive.

The suspect is believed to be the niece’s partner and has been on the run since the incident took place. The motive for the attack is unknown and police investigations continue.
