Domestic dispute turns deadly in Seshego

It is alleged a 39-year-old woman was shot and killed by her husband.

POLOKWANE – Three children, all under the age of 12, were left without a mother and a family shattered after a suspected domestic dispute turned deadly on Sunday, 28 May.

Provincial Police Spokesperson, Capt Mamphaswa Seabi, confirmed a case of murder was being investigated but he could not reveal information about the incident.

He did confirm, however, that domestic violence cannot be ruled out at this stage.

Seabi said she suspect was still at large and urged the community to help them and give information on the whereabouts of the husband.

He urged women and men in abusive relationships not to wait but to report the problems as soon as possible, either by opening a case with the police, or by asking social workers for assistance. Anyone who feels threatened, he said, should report the incident to their nearest police station so police can assist them with the issuing of a protection order.

“We are here to help and we want everyone to think of their own safety first.

BONUS spoke to a friend of the family who said the woman had been abused by her husband since the start of their relationship.

She said although the woman tried to leave the man several times, she was forced to go back to him.

She even got a restraining order against the man after he beat her and kidnapped her children. According to the family, this was done so the woman would buy food for the house she left behind because the man was not working and did not have his own income.

Over the past weekend the man arrived at the woman’s parents’ house where an argument ensued.

During the argument the woman was shot several times and died of her injuries. According to the family, the man fled the scene after the woman died.

The victim is described as a person who loved life and would do whatever she could to keep people around her happy.

Her friends said she would never have been the type of person who would start a fight as she was a loving person who would always try and keep the peace wherever she was.
