New strategy for Mrs Polokwane 2018

The theme for 2017 is women empowerment, sustainability and transparency and reigning Mrs Polokwane 2017, Irene Schempers, tells more.

POLOKWANE – Schempers says her, together with the committee, are changing the way Mrs Polokwane operates.

The aim for this year is:
– To remove the stigma and idea that Mrs Polokwane is only a beauty pageant
– To establish a committee to support the winner to give her the support you need
– To create a Code of Conduct for committee members and the winner/title holder. This will enable everyone to work together and also inform what is expected from you as the winner or committee member
– Create a Constitution that assists us with managing Mrs Polokwane as a non-profit organization and keep us accountable
– Looking at previous events, re-launching them and putting in the ground work for these events and initiatives to take place every year.

Schempers says, in the past, each winner had to establish herself and her own initiatives which led to the public not always knowing what Mrs Polokwane was doing and what charities she was assisting.

“The other aspect is that we want to encourage ladies to use this platform to assist our community but when each winner has to start over every year, it resulted in a lot of work that most working mothers can’t do,” she explained.

Schempers says from this year on, the organisation will make sure that each contestant knows what is expected of them and they will assist in organizing the three events that will take place every year, helping the future winners to build on and making the events and initiatives even better.

“A foundation is being set up where every winner can build on the previous winner’s work, making this a sustainable and transparent organization,” she says.

Schempers concluded by saying Mrs Polokwane has the opportunity to be an amazing platform for women empowerment, as well as assisting charity organizations and initiatives.
